Reflection
It is frightening to think that the things we see on the news are a reflection of humanity. So much that plays out before our eyes in this life is enough to rattle you to the core. The most base things of human nature seem to dominate the headlines. The images of war and violence are all there rage. Compromised boarders and a certain end to your peaceful existence in the world. Fear of economic uncertainty and political tensions. It is amazing we have made it this far. As we hang by a thread and wait for the doom to play out like scenes from the novel 1984 by George Orwell, I wonder what they will do to citizens with a low social score. I am sure the benevolent quantum computing AI gods will be fair. Doling out justice and equality while it reads us bedtime stories and makes new Netflix series’ we can binge while we nibble on our chemical snacks the give cancer to lab animals.
Reality is not allowed. The truth and nothing but the truth is a thing of the past. If the media is a reflection of society as a whole, social media is reflecting the image of the new individual. We rub our hands and scratch our heads seeing those who are gender confused and others who are working to turn our world upside down. While we watch “normal” people craft a persona that puts them on top of the world. Perfect body, perfect life, perfect career and happy family. Vacations to desirable places and fun outings that are sure to make their followers jealous. If we could only be like them, we would finally be happy. The days of hating skinny super models and Hollywood handsome men and beautiful women has come to a new level. Hyper-driven by the new “Influencer”.
We live in a tornado of pictures and opinions. Scroll your life away and see the reflections of the desperate. The reflections of the those determined to destroy what is good, noble and beautiful in this world. It’s not a requirement to pay attention and lose yourself in their twisted, life sucking schemes. They do not make the rules. We each make our own rules. What is the reflection of our lives? Do we compete for attention? Should we even care what others think about our life at all?
The world we see play out before us is a house of cards. Built on shaky ground. Held together by smoke and mirrors. It depends on you being motivated by the fear of disapproval. The power lies in you being afraid of other seeing you as less than worthy. Too poor, too fat, wrong clothes, not educated, racist, politically misguided, or whatever the shame of the moment may be. So you work to lose yourself and be accepted by others. To please the machine. To gain reputation and likes in the electronic reflection of their sick society.
The time we waste looking to please others is wasted time. Time that is irretrievable and probably one of the greatest the tragedies mankind gets caught in. I am sure there are countless numbers of disappoint participants who are not happy with the reflection of their lives once they’ve exhausted themselves playing by the rules of others.
